Ypres is accessible by bus from Veurne and Diksmuide. The bus station is on the western side of the town at the bottom of Gustave de Stuersstraat. Contact the Tourist office for up to date bus timetables and destinations. www.ieper.be
There are several bicycle rental places in the town. The tourist office issues a useful leaflet detailing cycle routes in the countryside around Ypres such as the Salient.
Canal cruises are one of the best ways of viewing the town and surrounding areas. A pleasure boat tour through the Westloek area (which encompasses Ypres) along the Yser and Ypres canals is a superb option and these waterways are no longer used commercially. The cruises generally operate from March to November. As well as boat trips, the canal-side roads and paths make for excellent walking and cycling.
