Cannes itself is very easy to explore and is divided into areas of La Croisette; the seafront area, famous for its promenade, lined with deluxe hotels, the town centre; with its gorgeous boutiques and restaurants and La Suquet, which is the enchanting old district, situated behind the Plage de Midi beach. The town exhibits a certain ambience and richness, with superb restaurants and cafes, pretty beaches and the lovely port, mooring luxury vessels. However, as the town was originally a Roman and Greek trading centre, Cannes also offers an interesting history and unique architecture to match.
