Unlike Britain’s continental climate, Poland’s is more temperate with colder winters and warmer summers. The main tourist season runs from May to September, peaking in July and August.
Perhaps the best time to visit is either late spring (mid-May to June) when the mild weather is ideal for sightseeing and being outdoors, or early autumn (September to mid-October) when the temperatures will be relatively mild and comfortable and when concerts and festivals tend to take place.
It is colder and darker during the winter months, but the city remains fully open, so if you dress appropriately it will be a good time to visit if you wish to avoid the crowds.
