Marrakech is a pleasure to visit at almost any time of the year. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are probably the best times, with almost guaranteed sunshine and bearable temperatures when days are warm and nights are not too chilly. At the height of summer (June to August), daytime temperatures regularly reach a baking 38°C. If you visit during these months try to fall in with the local custom of taking a siesta, and avoid the extreme midday and early afternoon heat.
Winter (December to February) can be lovely and warm with clear blue skies, bright sunshine, and daytime temperatures up to 18°C. However, the temperature tends to drop quite dramatically at night, so pack something warm. Rain is also possible, but is unlikely to last for more than a day or two.
As Morocco is an Islamic nation, the month of Ramadan is perhaps not the best time to go. The country’s Muslim population abstains from eating, drinking and smoking from sunrise to sunset. During this time, opening hours change completely. Shops, offices and banks tend to close early and some restaurants open after dusk only, or close completely during this period.
