Alsace-Lorraine has a wide variety of shop types to suit all tastes and budgets. There are chic boutiques, old-fashioned gift shops, antique shops and venues selling locally made crafts and let alone the vast array of lovely food and speciality shops. Strasbourg boasts many chic shopping streets and on the Rue des jardins in Metz there are some great shops selling clothes, records or antiques.

Boulangeries selling the lovely fresh baguettes are usually open daily from 7am, perfect for breakfast delights. Grocery stores usually open at 8am and department stores and boutiques, no later than 10am. All shops usually close for lunch for two hours from noon and afternoon opening lies between 2pm and 7.30pm. Most shops are closed all day on Mondays.
