Tallinn - Know Before You Go

Passport & Visa

Citizens of the UK, Irish Republic and other EU countries do not require a visa, but please ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months. Other nationals please check before travelling as to which documents are required.

Vaccinations

There are currently no requirements for British citizens. Please check with your GP or visit www.dh.gov.uk

Currency

The local currency in Tallinn is the Estonian Kroon (EEK) with 100 Senti to the Kroon – there are eight banknotes: 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 500 Krooni and six coins: 5, 10, 20, and 50 Senti, 1 Kroon and 5 Krooni. Major banks will change money and cash traveller’s cheques. They are open Monday to Friday from around 9am till 6pm, with some banks opening on Saturday mornings. Outside these hours you can change cash in currency exchange offices, which are found in larger hotels, the airport, harbour, railroad station and major shopping centres. ATM’s (cash machines) are generally available in most tourist areas, but ask your British bank about withdrawal charges as these can be heavy, especially if you withdraw only a small amount of cash. Credit cards are accepted at most hotels, restaurants and shops in the tourist areas. Remember to make a record of your credit card number and the emergency phone number for cancelling your card, should you lose it.

Local time

Tallinn is 2 hours ahead of Great Britain.
