The bigger cities of Belgium such as Brussels are quite well known for their diversity of nightlife, and the Belgians for their superb stamina, partying until dawn. However, Ypres is quite different. Still a small rural town, most of the nightlife in Ypres tends to revolve around eating and drinking rather than dancing and clubbing. Large nightclubs for some serious clubbing are thin on the ground, but if it is the party atmosphere that you crave, Antwerp and Ghent are the places to include on your travels. Most of Ypres bars, in addition to its restaurants, are located on the main Grote Markt Square.

A place to try for late night drinking is the ‘De Twaalf Apostels’. Situated on D’Hondstraat street, this religiously themed candle-lit bar provides a fun venue to drink and be merry. The remarkable décor includes crucifixes and images of saints.
