The majority of Mechelen’s nightlife is centred around the bars, cafes and restaurants which often spill out on to their terraces in the warmer weather.

Mechelen’s oldest pub is the Hanekeef whose name means poultry basket, a reference to the poultry trade that used to take place here. The smallest pub in Mechelen, at only 15 sq metres is the Borrelbabel.
