Mechelen has a good, varied range of shops. They are normally open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm with some food stores and newspaper shops also open for a few hours on Sunday. Sale dates are fixed in Belgium with the summer sales running from 1st – 31st July and the January sales from the first weekday after New Year’s Day to the end of the month.
