Whilst Florence has a reasonably good range of hotels, there are very few decent budget type hotels as most of the city’s accommodation still lend towards the pricier range of the market. Even so, you should try to book well in advance, whatever time of the year you are visiting, as Florence fills up very quickly.

When choosing accommodation, one idea is to request a garden, courtyard, or even a rear facing room, away from the traffic noise if the hotel is located on any of Florence's main thoroughfares.
