Generally Ghent is worth visiting at any time of the year. In the winter months it can be cool and damp but there are plenty of places to visit indoors, such as museums and shops.

The city is less crowded in late autumn to early spring but is at its prettiest in the summer when more things take place out of doors and it’s possible to sit in café terraces to soak up the atmosphere.
