Brussels’ city centre is divided into the Lower Town, which lies to the west, and the smaller Upper Town to the east. The boundary of the two areas is the busy road, which passes along Berlaimont, L’Impératrice and L’Empereur. The city centre is bordered by a series of boulevards known as the ‘petit ring’ and most of the sights and monuments are contained within the centre making them easy to visit over a few days.
