Shopping in Antwerp means strolling around the many pedestrianised streets, past historic houses and pleasant shopping centres. The shopping zones are fairly concentrated, and the city has dozens of excellent designer shops and stores.

The tourist office produces a booklet entitled Antwerp Fashion Walk (cost approx. €4) which describes five walks in the city that take you past all the best shops and also provides short biographies of the city’s leading figures in the fashion industry. You can also pick up a free shopping guide, called Shopping@ntwerpen from the front office desk at the Tourism Antwerp Office. This provides visitors with a wealth of information per zone such as parking, cash withdrawals, taxis, tram and bus stops.

Most shops are open from 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday. If it’s bargains you’re after, then look for the signs in the shop windows indicating Solden (Sales) – the winter sales tend to take place from 3rd – 31st January annually.
