Northumberland in the North East is a fascinating county for historians; it is home to more castles and fortified buildings than anywhere else in England and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne was the birthplace of English Christianity. It is a popular place for walkers as Hadrian’s Wall, England’s largest World Heritage Site, also crosses through the county and there are two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Northumberland’s miles of uncrowded golden beaches also provide great locations for walking as well as family beach holidays.
Alwick Garden is one of Northumberland’s most visited attractions – a contemporary garden featuring an interactive water feature with 38 water fountains, an Ornamental Garden with over 16,500 plants, the Bamboo Labyrinth, Serpent Garden and Europe’s largest tree-house.
There are almost 300 self-catering properties to choose from in Alnwick, Seahouses, Morpeth and across the county.
