North Devon and Exmoor is an area of stunning natural beauty with a wide variety of landscapes: spectacular cliffs, golden beaches and wild moors. Some of the most popular destiantions in the region include Barnstaple which has a wonderful mixture of Victorian, Medieval and Georgian architecture. Clovelly is a charming village on a 400 foot cliff with steep cobbled streets where donkeys once provided the only transport. Croyde is a pretty coastal resort with chocolate-box thatched cottages and is particularly popular with surfers. The twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth are joined by a victorian cliffrailway and are situated where two rivers meet, which resulted in a disastorous flood in 1952. Known as “The Little Switzerland of England” is a beautiful and fascinating area.
