The French Alps is one of the most beautiful mountain areas in the world and easily accessible from the UK by plane, car or train – making it an ideal choice for a short break. The area’s quaint wooden chalets are ideal bases for enjoying a cosy fire after a day’s skiing in winter, but also provide easy access to the mountains for a spring or summer break, particularly popular with walkers and nature lovers. 

Western Europe’s highest mountain Mount Blanc not only offers great skiing from Chamonix but is a popular choice for hiking and a stunning sight to behold from the surrounding area for those unable to reach its peak. Alp dhuez is a favourite location for cyclists and features in the Tour de France. The region includes the interesting towns of Grenoble, Annecy and Lyon, and Geneva is not out of reach.
