Long sandy beaches, beautiful towns and villages and fantastic windsurfing opportunities.
The Costa de Prata (or Silver Coast) is the stretch of coast between Oporto and Lisbon. The capital of the region is Coimbra; the city’s university was founded in 1290 and is one of the oldest seats of learning in the world. The nearby town of Conimbriga has the largest Roman remains in Portugal and there are many other interesting historical towns including Tomar, Alcobaca and Obidos. The area’s beaches are long and sandy and appear wild and windswept as they are exposed to the Atlantic breezes – attracting water sports enthusiasts, particularly windsurfers
