The Yorkshire Dales is an area of outstanding beauty and a haven for wildlife. Covering 680 square miles and located 50 miles north east of Manchester it is a stunning mix of lush green valleys, limestone cliffs and gorges and hidden waterfalls in wooded ravines.
This region is a popular destination for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and those wishing to explore its quaint villages and dramatic scenery. Come rain or shine, there is always something to enjoy in the Yorkshire Dales. Hundreds of footpaths and vast areas of open land are ripe for you to explore on foot and a plethora of lanes criss-cross the dales, perfect for on and off road cycling. Some of the country’s best caving and climbing can be found in this region too.
The Pennine Way, one of Britain’s most famous walks passes through the Yorkshire Dales and you can also find the world renowned Settle – Carlisle railway line, a spectacular train journey.
