Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire in the east of England offer stunning countryside, coastal resorts, historic market towns and although the university city of Cambridge is world famous, many parts of the region are still largely off the tourist map.
As well as the stunning architecture of the college buildings in Cambridge, there is a wealth of museums and bookshops to explore and the unique opportunity to go punting on the River Cam. Those with a passion for architecture should also ensure a trip to Lincoln Cathedral, one of the finest medieval buildings in Europe which towers above the city. Peterborough and Ely also have magnificent cathedrals and there are a number of other historic towns in the region worth visiting, notably Wisbech, St Ives, Huntingdon and St Neots.
The Cambridgeshire Fens are unique areas drained by man which are home to some of Britain’s most important nature reserves.
