Las Vegas is a compact city with many attractions in the area around the Strip and downtown. Walking is a good option for seeing some of the sights, but the Strip can be pretty long, and it does get very hot! Luckily there is a good public transport system as well as a variety of other methods of transport.
For exploring further afield than central Las Vegas, hiring a car makes things a lot easier. Many hotels offer free parking and as Las Vegas is laid out on a grid system, it is easy to find your way around. However, traffic congestion in the centre is a problem during the morning rush hour, between 4pm and 7pm and late into the evenings on the Strip, although a drive along the Strip can be an exhilarating experience.
