Although the weather is pleasant most of the year, because of its elevated position Madrid can experience extreme and rapidly changing conditions. The best times to visit are Spring, early Summer & Autumn. The Madrileños tend to leave the city during the high summer heat of late-July-August but most of the sights stay open.

November to February – clear days with low temperatures and occasional snow.

March to mid-June & September to October - Pleasantly mild and a good time to visit.

Mid June to August – The hot season, especially in July-August, although it is easier to get around as the locals move out.
