The pub stands at the very heart of Dublin’s social life and, with over 700 watering-holes to choose from, you’re sure to get involved with the Irish ‘craic’. Dubliners also possess an unbridled passion for music, song and dance, features that are bound to enrich any visit. There is a strong comedy and club scene and, as one would expect from such a literary city, numerous theatres. Thursday to Saturday nights are generally the busiest.
Dance Clubs – Generally open at about 11pm close between 2.30-4am. A host of options but three to note are POD, Fitzsimon’s and The Gaiety Theatre. Door charges vary from €8-€25 and dress to impress!
Pubs & Bars – Plentiful and in general are open 10.30am-11.30pm Monday-Wednesday, until 12.30am Thursday-Saturday and until 11pm on Sun. Plenty with late licences Thursday-Saturday until 2.30am. The epicentre of the city’s bar scene is Temple Bar but there are super traditional and chic venues all over the city, many with regular live music.
Comedy – Laughter is another endearing Irish trait and there are many Comedy venues in town.
Theatre – Dublin has several theatres for the performing arts and a theatre festival in October.
