A romantic city on the beautiful River Danube formed by the union of two great cities; the historic medieval town of Buda and the cosmopolitan Pest. Boasting some astonishingly graceful architecture, therapeutic spas, leafy parklands, superb coffee houses, this Hungarian capital blends the historic and the modern very well.
- Out and About - on foot is the best way, with 2 distinct areas, Buda on the left, Pest on the right and the River in between it is easy to navigate quickly.
- Public transport is good value and efficient, ideal for moving between Buda and Pest and within each respectively. This, therefore, means that it is not essential to stay in a hotel on one or the other side or in the ‘heart of the city’ on the Pest.
- A variety of museums, in particular in the Castle District on the Budha side, and an excellent range of historical buildings and monuments reflecting a variety of architectural styles; Empire, Medieval and Baroque.
- Café Culture – the coffee houses are popular here, excellent as a respite from sightseeing or just for people watching!
- Must try the thermal baths, which can be therapeutic and fun!
