The main shopping area is centred in West Berlin around the Kurfűrstendamm where you will find a mixture of designer stores, large modern retail outlets and trendy boutiques. Here you will find many well known stores whilst in the elegant side streets you can wander around more exclusive and specialist shops, particularly around Savignyplatz.

In East Berlin, becoming increasingly popular as a shopping district, is the Friedrichstraße where you will find many well-known designer names amongst the complex of stylish malls known as the Friedrichstasse Passagen as well as the well-known French department store, Galeries Lafayette. Around the Hackescher Markt you will come across a delightful collection of boutiques, galleries workshops, bookshops and antique shops.

Other popular department stores in the city are Wertheim (Kurfűrstendamm 231), Karstadt (Wilmerdorfer Straße 118), Kaufhof (Alexander Platz 9) and the well-known Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe) in Wittenbergplatz, with popular shopping malls such as the Arkaden (Potsdamer Platz), the Europa-Center (Budapester Straße 45), and the Kranzler Eck (corner of Kurfürstendamm / Joachimstaler Straße).
