Great Escapes offers an attractive portfolio of Châteaux and Manor Houses within its Spring / Summer 2009 programme.

The specialist operator presents Châteaux and Manor Houses that are easily accessible for a short break, with most being situated just across the Channel. Many of these properties are of historic interest and full of character, and with exceptional cuisine and wine, give one a true flavour of traditional France. In most cases there are ample grounds in which to roam, but Great Escapes also details the nearest towns or villages to the Châteaux, should guests wish to explore the local area.

Sample Châteaux and Manor House packages offered by Great Escapes include three nights for the price of two at the 4* La Chartreuse du Val St. Esprit from £215 per person. This price is based on two sharing a Luxe Room on a bed & breakfast basis (breakfast to be paid locally on the third morning), and includes return travel with P&O Dover-Calais Ferries (based on two people in a car). The offer is valid for Friday arrivals until 24 April and the hotel still has availability over the Valentine’s weekend.

Set in a beautiful Château built in 1792, La Chartreuse du Val St Esprit is a magnificent hotel surrounded by tranquil parkland, with an internationally renowned restaurant and two more brasseries on site. The gourmet restaurant offers regional cuisine traditionally made with local produce. The 66 bedrooms are furnished with period furniture, each in their own style. 
The hotel is located close to Béthune in the town of Gosnay, with its famous site of two ancient monasteries. Arras and the market town of St Omer are also within easy reach.

Recognising the high standard of cuisine at many of its Châteaux and Manor Houses, Great Escapes also offers tailored ‘Gastronomic Breaks’ at a selection of its featured properties.
